PROFESSIONAL BIO

Bonnie has always loved math and sciences. After attending Francis Tuttle’s Pre-Engineering Academy in high school and taking some civil engineering and architecture classes, she decided that being a structural engineer was the perfect job. Bonnie grew up tackling do-it-yourself projects with her dad, such as repairing vehicles and renovating rooms in her childhood home. These experiences helped her learn to conceptualize how things are built and have been a major benefit to her career.

Bonnie learned the importance of integrating an architect’s vision with the structural design of buildings through architectural studios at Oklahoma State University. After her undergraduate degree, Bonnie moved to Dallas, TX where she worked primarily on large scale multi-family housing projects while remotely earning her master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. Bonnie’s experience in wood-framed, multi-family housing gave her the skills to design structures with complex load paths and develop highly detailed drawings. Wood-framed buildings have since become one of her favorite structural systems.

Bonnie joined the ZFI team January 1, 2022 after moving back to Oklahoma to be closer to family. At ZFI, she has been able to work on wood-framed investigation and renovation projects. Her primary focus has been developing her understanding of structural steel design and detailing through her work on Joe Cooper car dealerships. She also has hands on experience working on large-scale projects such as multiple Integris Health clinics and the Bethany Children’s Outpatient Center.

Outside the office, Bonnie enjoys reading, Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects, and playing musical instruments.
