His leadership extends to overseeing a team of dedicated engineers and professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.  

John maintains and cultivates relationships with clients, partners, and owners. He leverages his expertise to identify opportunities for growth and drives innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of clients in various industries. John’s technical prowess is invaluable, as he provides technical oversight, reviews complex structural designs, and ensures compliance with industry standards and regulations. John is passionate about solving problems and helping clients. He believes in working hard, upholding high moral and ethical standards, being a professional, treating people with kindness, and helping others succeed. 

John combines technical proficiency, strategic acumen, and a passion for problem solving to lead ZFI Engineering to new heights in the field of structural engineering, delivering cutting-edge solutions that make a lasting impact on the built environment.

John grew up in rural Kansas along the Kansas and Oklahoma border. With parents who are educators and farmers, John always appreciated and understood the value of education and hard work. As a child, John enjoyed building and constructing things with Legos. John credits his interest in building things with Legos, the ingenuity associated with farming, and his affinity for math and science as the reason for his original interest in Structural Engineering. John joined ZFI Engineering after completion of his master’s degree from the University of Kansas as a project engineer in 1996 then became principal and project manager in 2002. In 2018, he become President and CEO.
