Following approval of a 2025 bond issue, Rush Springs Public Schools began development of a new 25,800-square-foot High School Event Center. The one-story facility features a competition gymnasium seating approximately 1,100 spectators, along with junior high and high school locker rooms, weightlifting and training spaces, concessions, restrooms, storage, and support areas.
The structural system combines pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) and conventional steel framing. The 17,500-square-foot gymnasium utilizes 150-foot clear-span PEMB frames supported by steel columns located outside the building envelope. Steel framing with concrete-on-metal deck supports the bleacher seating above locker rooms and storage areas.
The east and west wings utilize conventional steel framing consisting of open-web steel joists and beams supported by the PEMB structure and steel tube columns. The building’s lateral system combines rigid steel frames and steel braced frames.
Exterior materials include brick masonry, metal panels, EIFS, glazing, and a standing-seam metal roof. The foundation system consists of a concrete slab-on-grade with near-surface bearing spot and continuous footings, with concrete stem walls incorporated where required to accommodate grade changes.
