Mercy Springfield Orthopedic Hospital ED Addition

The Mercy ED Addition to the Orthopedic Hospital in Ozark, Missouri is a two-story, 30,556-square-foot cast-in-place concrete expansion designed to seamlessly integrate with the existing facility. Each floor spans approximately 15,283 square feet and utilizes a two-way concrete slab system at the second floor and roof, supported by concrete columns and shear walls to match the hospital’s established bay spacing and floor-to-floor heights.

The ground level consists of a slab-on-grade system, while the foundation incorporates drilled shafts socketed into shallow rock with concrete perimeter grade beams for long-term stability. The first floor will be fully finished and equipped to serve over 18,000 patients annually through eleven treatment rooms. The second floor will remain shell space, intentionally designed to accommodate future growth, including multiple MRI units as demand increases.

Additional site improvements include two unattached steel-framed canopies totaling approximately 3,025 square feet and an attached 775-square-foot canopy for enhanced patient access and protection. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2026.
