To support the growing operational demands of the Oklahoma City Airport, a new consolidated rental car facility was developed, bringing all rental car operations into a single, centralized location. This project also freed valuable space within the existing parking structures adjacent to the terminal.
The facility includes an 18,500 square-foot rental car terminal building and four Quick Turn-Around (QTA) buildings, each measuring 8,500 square-feet, for a total of 52,500 square-feet of new construction. The terminal building features a large, open floor plan designed to enhance customer flow and visibility. A hardened area was incorporated to protect occupants during severe weather events, and expansive east-facing glazing allows abundant natural light to flood the main lobby.
Structurally, the terminal building utilizes a metal roof deck supported by steel joists and steel beams, with a concrete pier and grade beam foundation system. Lateral loads are resisted through a combination of steel moment frames in one direction and concrete shear walls in the orthogonal direction.
The QTA buildings support daily rental car operations and include multiple car wash and vehicle maintenance bays, complete with floor drains, service pits, and exterior covered fueling canopies. These buildings are constructed with metal roof decks on steel joists supported by precast concrete wall panels and are founded on continuous concrete footings.
